Šiemet 33-ąjį gimtadienį švęsiantis J.Nainys prisipažino, jog meilę krepšiniui ir Kauno „Žalgiriui“ perėmė iš tėčio, kuris nuolat žiūrėdavo žalgiriečių kovas tuometiniame Tarybų Sąjungos čempionate.

„Mano tėtis yra žiaurus krepšinio fanas ir mes su broliu krepšiniu užsikrėtėme būtent nuo jo. Vienintelė pramoga būdavo, kai Kauno „Žalgiris“ sutelkdavo visą Lietuvą sirgti prieš Maskvos CSKA. Laimėtų rungtynių emocijos man kaip vaikui taip įstrigo ir ilgainiui Kauno „Žalgiris“ tapo ne tik komanda, bet ir emocija, įaugo į kraują. Paskui tai sudėtinga išmesti iš galvos ir, nors dėl laiko stokos nebe taip domiuosi krepšiniu, bet Kauno „Žalgiris“ yra mano širdyje“, – teigė J.Nainys.

Jau nuo pat vaikystės „Jovani“ sceniniu slapyvardžiu Lietuvoje žinomas J.Nainys lavino savo krepšinio įgūdžius šalia namų įrengtoje krepšinio aikštelėje.
