Coach Zdovc emphasizes Sloukas importance for Olympiacos 0

Zalgiris Kaunas will meet Olympiacos Piraeus at Zalgirio Arena on Tuesday. It will be a makeup game of EuroLeague Round 19, as both teams originally had to play in January, but the game was postponed due to Covid outbreak.

The head coach of Lithuanian champions Jure Zdovc attended the press conference in the eve of the game.

“We are playing a lot of games in a row at home, so fan support is really helpful. Olympiacos is one of the best teams in Europe, and in my opinion they have the best point guard in Europe in Kostas Sloukas. They play smart, they have experienced players. It isn’t easy to beat them, especially if the game is close in the clutch moments. We had good moments in our first meeting, where we led by double-digit margin in the first half, but we need to transfer such performance to all 40 minutes”, – Zdovc said.

Tyler Cavanaugh will return to the court after missing more than a week with an ankle injury.

“Olympiacos is a very talented team. I watched them multiple times this season. Tyler Dorsey is very good scorer, as he can score from all three levels. Sasha Vezenkov is one of the best power forwards in the league. He can play both outside and inside. And there are a lot more great players like Sloukas, Walkup or big guys in the post”, – Cavanaugh said prior to the game in Kaunas.
