Zalgiris defeats Wolves with a great defense 5
Zalgiris Kaunas continues the preparation for the new season.
Kazys Maksvytis’ team crushed the newly established Lithuanian club BC Wolves at home, 80-59 (18-12, 16-18, 20-13, 26-16).
Two Lithuanian national team members – Ignas Brazdeikis and Arnas Butkevicius – made their debut with Zalgiris jerseys in this match.
Brazdeikis posted 5 points (2/4 2PT, 0/1 3PT, 1/2 FT), 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal in 15.5 playing minutes.
Butkevicius added 2 points (2/2 FT), 1 rebound, 3 steals, and 2 turnovers over 15 minutes.
Tomas Dimsa was the top scorer with 13 points (2/2 2PT, 3/4 3PT), 1 rebound, and 2 steals.
“The defensive effort is pleasing,” coach Maksvytis said after the match. “There was a good level of aggressiveness, but there were also things where we had to make better decisions.
In the second half, they managed to slightly change the course of the match and impose their physical game. But the defense was pleasing today.”
