Brazdeikis about EuroLeague debut: “It felt like a playoff game” 1
Ignas Brazdeikis made his debut in the EuroLeague last week against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Following the experience, he praised the Israeli club’s fans and assured the fans that he’s healthy.
Zalgiris Kaunas lost just by a single point against Maccabi Tel Aviv last week in the EuroLeague. It was Ignas Brazdeikis’ first EuroLeague experience, and it happened in one of the loudest arenas in Europe.
“It was a lot of fun. The environment was very hectic I would say, reminded me of college basketball a lot,” Brazdeikis said about the Menora Mivtachim experience. “The fans were passionate over there, [they] definitely care about the game, it was a lot of fun.”
“It sucks we didn’t come out with a victory,” he continued. “It was a close game, we played hard but it didn’t go our way in the end. It was a great first experience.”
After coming back from the USA, it was Brazdeikis’ first official international club competition game as well.
“I kind of came in with an open slate,” the forward explained his attitude. “It definitely was a physical game, it felt like a playoff game, it felt like the championship almost. I feel like every single game is going to be like that so you have to bring your best every single time.”
Brazdeikis did not play in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) game against 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys this past weekend. However, the player assured that he’s healthy now.
“I feel great. I had to take those couple of days off, [it was] a little bit of a flu or cold but now I feel good,” he concluded.
The matchup between Olympiacos Piraeus and Zalgiris Kaunas is set to take place on Friday at 20:00 CET.
