Motiejus Krivas goes off in Giedraitis debut night for Zalgiris 1
Zalgiris Kaunas secured their eighth victory in the Lithuanian Basketball League (Betsafe-LKL), as they improved to an 8-1 record after cruising past Pieno Zvaigzdes, 92-59, in Pasvalys.
The side from Pasvalys started the game with good energy, leading the way 13-10 mid-way through the first quarter, but the Zalgiris players came back different after the commercial break. Inspired by Tyler Cavanaugh’s three-pointer and Motiejus Krivas’ points, the visitors took the lead with an 11-1 spurt of their own.
The margin grew to 20 before the halftime break, as Zalgiris dominated the paint in the second quarter. There wasn’t any change of scenery in the second half, as the green-and-whites continued piling up the points and made the fourth quarter a mere formality.
Dovydas Giedraitis made his debut in a Zalgiris jersey. The guard, who missed the start of the season due to an injury, scored a total of 7 points and 4 assists in 22 minutes.
The night was all about 17-year-old Motiejus Krivas, though, who put up an impressive line in just 22 minutes of action with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting, 11 rebounds, an assist, a block, a steal, 4 fouls, and 30 efficiency points.
Tomas Dimsa was dangerous from long range with 14 points and 6 assists, Tyler Cavanaugh added another 14, as Ignas Brazdeikis finished the game in double-digits with 11 points. Lukas Lekavicius ended up scoring 9 points.
