Zalgiris outlasts Wolves in dramatic fashion 3
Zalgiris secured its 9th victory in ten games in the Betsafe-LKL, as they managed to get the better of Wolves Alytus in Kaunas, 90-85.
The green-and-whites jumped ahead from the get-go, with a 10-0 result shining on the scoreboard after the opening three minutes. Nevertheless, that was as far as the margin went, with the visitors fighting back to a 44-39 first half.
Things got even tighter after the break, with the outcome of the game being decided in the final possessions at the free-throw line. After two missed shots from Wolves’ Marcos Delia, Keenan Evans closed the game with two clutch shots of his own.
Evans was the team’s top scorer, dropping 17 points and 5 assists in 25 minutes of action. Laurynas Birutis added 12 points and 7 boards, as Edgaras Ulanovas and Rolands Smits ended up with 11 apiece. Karolis Lukosiunas had 10, while Arnas Butkevicius added 9 points and 3 big steals.
