Achille Polonara makes a move from Anadolu Efes to Zalgiris 15
Zalgiris Kaunas will welcome the second round of the EuroLeague regular season with a second newcomer. Zalgiris has announced the signing of 31-year-old forward Achille Polonara until the end of the season.
The 203 cm tall player started the season at Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where another newcomer Isaiah Taylor also played.
The Italian national team’s forward averaged 11 minutes per game, scored 2.9 points and grabbed 2.2 rebounds in this season’s EuroLeague.
After starting his career at Teramo in his native Italy, he went on to play for Varese, Reggiana and Dinamo Sassari, before making his EuroLeague debut in 2019.
Polonara joined Baskonia Vitoria, where he spent two years. In his second year in Spain, he averaged 12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 16.5 efficiency per game.
The versatile big man’s career then took a turn to Turkey. Last season he wore the jersey of Fenerbahce Istanbul and then joined EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes.
Polonara also played for the Italian national team in EuroBasket 2023 and helped them reach the quarter-finals.
The new Zalgiris player contributed with 11.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 15.6 efficiency per game.
The Zalgiris Kaunas rookie will wear the number 25 jersey and will arrive in Lithuania soon.
