Zalgiris returns to winning ways with victory over Prienai 14
Zalgiris Kaunas returned to winning ways in the Lithuanian Championship, as they defeated Labas GAS Prienai 86-80 to tab their 16th victory of the season.
It was a close game from end to end, as the green-and-whites were couldn’t put together a tangible lead early on, with just two baskets separating the two sides after the opening quarter. Things seemed to pick up in the second, as Zalgiris managed to get ahold of a 10-point advantage. Nevertheless, that lead didn’t hold on for long, as the gap was closed to just two points before the break.
The neck-to-neck race continued after halftime, too, but Zalgiris finally created some breathing room in the fourth quarter, with Tomas Dimsa taking initiative, as the hosts went on to win, 86-80.
Zalgiris was led by Tomas Dimsa’s 19 points and 6 assists. Rolands Smits chipped in with 18 points, as Lukas Lekavicius had 15. Both Laurynas Birutis and Dovydas Giedraitis ended up with 10 points apiece.
