Zalgiris takes convincing victory in Kedainiai 1
Zalgiris Kaunas secured yet another victory in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Kazys Maksvytis’ men defeated Nevezis-Optibet 97-69 in Kedainiai with no hiccups.
It was a one-sided affair from the early stages of the game, putting themselves ahead by double digits after the opening quarter.
Another spurt early in the second quarter allowed Zalgiris to build on their early game success, as the margin expanded to 16. Nevertheless, the hosts managed to close the gap to single-digits before the halftime break.
Nevertheless, the didn’t get much closer than that, as the green-and-whites returned to dominating position with a 29-11 third quarter.
With the margin standing at 27, the fourth quarter was merely a formality.
The scoring numbers were wide-spread for Zalgiris, as Ignas Brazdeikis was the leading scorer with 11 points. Arnas Butkevicius and Rolands Smits added 10 apiece, while Lukas Lekavicius, Edgaras Ulanovas, Achille Polonara, Karolis Lukosiunas and Isaiah Taylor all finished the game with 9 points to their names.
