Zalgiris takes commanding victory against Siauliai 2
Kazys Maksvytis’ Zalgiris secured a commanding victory in the Betsafe-LKL, as they defeated Siauliai 84-60, after a big third-quarter surge.
The green-and-whites now hold a record of 22-4 and sit atop of the standings in the Lithuanian basketball league. Meanwhile, the loss drops Siauliai to a 11-15 record.
It was a fairly close affair in the opening half of the contest, as Zalgiris held only a four-point advantage after the first ten minutes, and a seven point advantage at halftime.
Nevertheless, a pair of triples from Rolands Smits and Dovydas Giedraitis in the third quarter quickly drove up the score, and a 16-5 start to the second half nonchalantly put the game to bed.
The green-and-whites did not sway and comfortably ended the game with a 24-point advantage.
Tomas Dimsa was the game’s highest scorer with 13 points to his name, as Edgaras Ulanovas chipped in with 12. Kevarrius Hayes had 11 and was a pest on the defensive end with 2 steals and 3 blocks. Isaiah Taylor and Dovydas Giedraitis finished up with 9 points apiece, as Laurynas Birutis had 8. Lukas Lekavicius had an unusual statline, picking up 8 rebounds to go with his 7 points.
