A win in Kedainiai sends Zalgiris to LKL semis 3
Zalgiris Kaunas has made it to the Betsafe-LKL Semi-finals. Zalgiris defeated Nevezis-Optibet Kedainiai 92-86 on the road and won the Quarter-final series 2-0.
Tomas Dimsa and Isaiah Taylor scored three points each, Rolands Smits was there with the offensive rebound, while Edgaras Ulanovas made five points, 13-9. Ignas Brazdeikis, Ulanovas, Achille Polonara and Kevarrius Hayes scored inside, Lukas Lekavicius and Karolis Lukosiunas connected from downtown and Laurynas Birutis made free throws for 29-18 first quarter lead.
Polonara and Lukosiunas hit a three-pointer each, Hayes dunked in transition, while Dovydas Giedraitis and Ulanovas extended the lead to 41-26. Brazdeikis scored seven points, while Lekavicius and Birutis scored two each, 52-35 at halftime.
Lekavicius scored five consecutive points right after the break, Smits scored from inside and Ulanovas made a long-range shot, 62-52. Taylor scored seven points, Hayes and Polonara made free throws and Ulanovas added two more points to make it 74-60 after 30 minutes.
Halfway through the fourth quarter Ulanovas, Birutis and Lekavicius added two more points each, but the gap was closing to 80-72. At the end of the game, the opponents got closer, but Dimša hit a three-pointer, Birutis scored from under the basket, Ulanovas scored twice and Lukosiunas clinched the victory with a long-range shot, 92-86.
Captain Ulanovas was the best scorer for Zalgiris with 20 points. Lekavicius added 12, Taylor finished the game with 10 points.
