Zalgiris Kaunas regains the Lithuanian championship! 19
Zalgiris Kaunas has regained the Lithuanian championship. In the decisive game of the Betsafe-LKL Finals series, Zalgiris defeated Rytas Vilnius 97-87 and won the series 3-2.
Isaiah Taylor started the game in Kaunas with ten consecutive points, but in the first quarter, the offense of the opponents was better, 10-13. Lukas Lekavicius scored a mid-range jumper, Rolands Smits connected on two free throws, Dovydas Giedraitis made a three-pointer from the corner and Taylor scored another two-pointer, 23-24.
Taylor continued his show with five more points, Karolis Lukosiunas and Lekavicius added two points each, and Smits hit another three-pointer, 35-33. Laurynas Birutis, Smits, Arnas Butkevicius, Kevarrius Hayes and Taylor each made two free throws and Edgaras Ulanovas scored one, 46-45.
Butkevicius answered the nine points scored by Rytas with seven points, Ignas Brazdeikis made a raid under the basket and Ulanovas made a three-pointer, 58-56. The captain and Brazdeikis added two free throws each, Butkevicius scored five points in a row, and Lekavicius finished the third quarter with a three-pointer from the corner, 70-69.
Brazdeikis scored seven points in the first half of the decisive quarter, Giedraitis hit a three-pointer and Taylor scored from under the basket, 82-77. Butkevicius made no mistakes at the free throw line, Taylor scored nine points in a row, Ulanovas made two free throws and Taylor clinched the victory, 97-87.
Taylor was unstoppable with 32 points and 5 rebounds. Butkevicius added 16 points, while Brazdeikis and Smits scored 16 each.
