Zalgiris parts ways with Achille Polonara 3

Lithuanian champion Zalgiris Kaunas has said goodbye to its first foreign player at the end of the 2022-2023 basketball season.

Achille Polonara will not return to Kaunas next year after a season marked by making to EuroLeague playoffs, winning the King Mindaugas Cup and regaining the Betsafe-LKL championship title.

After the season, Polonara’s contract with the Green-and-Whites has ended and he will look for a new club.

The Italian arrived in Kaunas at the beginning of January, but finished the season on the sidelines – he missed the Lithuanian league Finals series due to a hamstring injury.

While wearing the Zalgiris jersey, the Polonara spent 18 minutes on the court in the EuroLeague, averaging 4.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

The Italian was even more efficient in the domestic championship, scoring 6.7 points, grabbing 6.2 rebounds and making 1.9 assists in 19 minutes on the floor.

Zalgiris Kaunas thanks Polonara for his work and wishes him the best of luck in his future career.
