Zalgiris remains perfect in Betsafe-LKL with victory over 7bet-Lietkabelis 57
Zalgiris Kaunas (7-0) achieved another victory in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Kazys Maksvytis’ team defeated 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys (4-3) by 69-63 (21-20, 18-9, 18-17, 12-17) at Zalgirio Arena.
Kaunas was down 0-8 at the start of the game, but then Tomas Dimsa connected from long range, Laurynas Birutis dunked it home, and Keenan Evans scored two points with a foul to even the score at 8-8. Dimsa and Edgaras Ulanovas made free throws, Birutis added two points, Naz Mitrou-Long scored five points in a row, and Brady Manek finished the quarter, 21-20.
Manek and Arnas Butkevicius hit from long range, while Lukas Lekavicius and Dovydas Giedraitis increased the lead to 31-20. Birutis then scored eight more points in a row, and Zalgiris went into the break with a 39-29 lead.
Rolands Smits scored four points, Butkevicius hit a three-pointer and Evans sank free throws to make it 48-38. Manek and Smits scored two more points each, Butkevicius made a long-range shot, and Dimsa converted his free throws, 57-46.
The hosts did not score any points during the first three minutes of the fourth period and allowed their opponents to get closer, 57-51. Ulanovas made a free throw, Evans scored eight points, Dimsa made a long-range shot, and the Zalgiris recorded another victory, 69-63.
Evans led the scorers with 13 points, Birutis added 12, while Dimsa finished with 10 points.
