Zalgiris sweeps 7bet-Lietkabelis and advances to the Betsafe-LKL finals 23
Zalgiris Kaunas completed the Betsafe-LKL semi-finals by defeating 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys 88-79 (18-18, 21-26, 24-10, 25-25) at home in the third game of the best-of-5 series.
Tomas Dimsa opened the game with a drive to the basket, Keenan Evans hit three free throws and Laurynas Birutis scored four points to make it 9-7. Brady Manek and Edmond Sumner scored free throws, Birutis made another two-pointer and Edgaras Ulanovas added four points, 18-18.
Sumner and Lukas Lekavicius scored two points each, Rolands Smits hit a free throw, and Dovydas Giedraitis and Lekavicius connected from long range, 29-29. Kevarrius Hayes dunked it home and made a free throw, Ulanovas scored a two-pointer, Evans made a free throw and Sumner scored three points, 39-44.
After the break, Evans scored five consecutive points, Birutis sank free throws and Brady Manek made a three-pointer to put Kaunas ahead again, 49-46. Evans, Birutis and Ulanovas scored two more points each, Lekavicius made one free throw, Manek added a basket and Lekavicius finished the third quarter with five points, 63-54.
Hayes made free throws to increase the difference, Demetre Rivers hit a three-pointer and Lekavicius added 2 points, 70-56. Sumner converted steal into a dunk, Lekavicius scored from long range, Smits and Dimsa scored inside, 79-64. The game was finished with a two-pointer by Smits, five consecutive points by Dimsa and free throws by Lekavicius, 88-79.
Lekavicius was the leading scorer for Zalgiris with 18 points. Evans added 12 points.
