BBL: Eight in a row for Zalgiris 0
Zalgiris won the second game of the weekend and eight straight in the BBL Elite Division by overcoming Liepajas Lauvas 74:63 in Kaunas on Sunday.
The club from Kaunas is one of two teams that remain undefeated in the Elite Division, while Lauvas is in the bottom of the standings with a 1-6 record.
The hosts could not play at full strength once again as Travis Watson, Mirza Begic and Sarunas Vasiliauskas had to miss the game due to illness.
Marcus Brown was spectacular for the side from Kaunas with 22 points, Dainius Salenga added 13, while Zygimantas Janavicius, Siim-Sander Vene and Tadas Klimavicius all scored 7 points each. Laimonas Kisielius led the visitors, scoring 18 and Oleg Kojenets contributed with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Zalgiris was quick of the start and held a 15-point lead after baskets from Tadas Klimavicius and Zygimantas Janavicius in the second quarter, but the Latvians started to pull back in the third and narrowed the deficit to three – 57:54.
The final quarter was a one way affair as Zalgiris cruised to a victory as Marcus Brown scored 10 of the 15 host points in the last ten minutes of the game.
