ASVEL upset Zalgiris in France 0
ASVEL proved too strong for visiting Zalgiris, winning 77:67 in Lyon on Thursday night
Zalgiris slumped to a 1-5 record, losing a fifth straight game Euroleague and increasing their winless game run in the tournament to twelve. The club from Kaunas celebrated their last road victory in Ljubljana against Union Olimpija in the beginning of 2008.
Dainius Salenga had a game-high 25 points and became the week’s MVP with a ranking of 28 points. Travis Watson had 12 points and 6 boards as Mantas Kalnietis contributed 9 points and 4 assists.
Rawle Marshall scored 20 points for ASVEL, Laurent Foirest and Eric Campbell layed in 15 each and Ali Traore had 10.
The game was close up to the 15 minute mark, as Travis Watson made the score 34:32. ASVEL had a lot of points of turnovers and were leading 47:39. Mindaugas Lukauskis alone had two fast break dunks after cutting off passes from fellow Lithuanians.
Tadas Klimavicius scored a triple and the teams were seperated by 4 points only at 47:51, but the hosts went on a 10:4 run and gained a double-digit lead – 61:51. Another ASVEL rally followed and Zalgiris was already behind by 19 points.
