Zalgiris takes ninth straight in LKL 0
Zalgiris extended their undefeated run to nine games in the Lithuanian League (LKL) by knocking over the visiting Neptunas side 82:66 (23:16, 14:11, 29:20, 16:19) at home on Friday evening.
Martynas Pocius led the way for Zalgiris scoring 18 points as Travis Watson was second on the home side’s scoring list with 11. Adas Juskevicius and Povilas Butkevicius both collected 10 points and Mantas Kalnietis finished with 9.
Neptunas’ Julius Zurna had a game-high 19 points while Simas Galdikas and Juozas Ramanauskas provided the backup with 15 and 10 respectively for the visitors from Klaipeda.
The home team thundered ahead to a 23:16 lead, but Simas Galdikas began the second period with five straight points for Neptunas to bring the gap to two – 21:23.
Mario Delas was quick to answer with five points of his own and levelled out the run attempt made by the visitors. Zalgiris went on to increase their lead to double-digits at 37:27 before going for a short halftime talk.
Zalgiris had passed the 20-point lead mark twice, but Neptunas avoided a laughable loss and finished with a reasonable 16-point deficit.
