Jankunas comes back to Zalgiris 0
A familiar face is back to Zalgiris, none other than Paulius Jankunas, who inked a two-year deal with the Lithuanian powerhouse. Zalgiris keeps an option to extend his contract until the end of the 2012-13 season.
Jankunas (205, 26) arrives from BC Khimki Moscow Region, where he averaged 8.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 16 Euroleague games last season. He helped Khimki to reach the Euroleague Top 16 and the Russian League final.
Born in Kaunas and raised at Zalgiris, Jankunas has returned to his lifelong club. He played six full Euroleague seasons for Zalgiris before joining Khimki, establishing himself as one of the competition’s top double-double threats. Jankunas averaged 13.8 points and 8 rebounds in 2008-09, the latter ranking him third in the Euroleague regular season.
He won four Lithuanian League titles with Zalgiris, as well as two Baltic League crowns. With the Lithuanian national team, he took a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2007.
