After going through an undefeated regular season, Zalgiris continued their good stretch of form in the start of the playoffs. The club from Kaunas defeated Neptunas 88-82 (22-20, 25-17, 18-23, 23-22) on the road in Klaipeda to advance to the semi-finals of the Lithuanian League (LKL) despite facing a much tougher challenge than in the first game of the series.
The in-form Lithuanian big man Tadas Klimavicius and Marcus Brown collected 14 points each to lead the Greens to victory. Martynas Pocius scored 12, while Trent Plaisted and Paulius Jankunas ended the game with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Martynas Mazeika was the top-scorer of the game with 19 points, Luke Bonner scored 18 points and grabbed 8 boards, Mantas Ruikis chipped in with 17 while Simas Galdikas added 11 points for the hosts.
In the semi-final, Zalgiris will face Juventus, which produced the only surprise of the quarter-finals by knocking out the forever-third Lithuanian club Siauliai out of the medal race.
