LKL newcomers couldn’t handle Zalgiris 0
Zalgiris Kaunas grabbed another victory in the Lithuanian League (LKL), as the defending champions used a strong third quarter to pull away from Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys to take a 91-74 (22-17, 21-26, 30-13, 18-18) home win.
With Greek coach Ilias Zouros fired earlier in the day, the Sports Director of Zalgiris Vitoldas Masalskis acted as the interim-coach until the club finds a replacement for Zouros.
Milovan Rakovic led all scorers with 21 points, Ty Lawson had 13 after making all nine free-throw attempts, while DeJuan Collins finished the game with 12 points for Zalgiris.
Robertas Javtokas was also in double-digits with 10 points, Mindaugas Kuzminskas scored nine, while Sonny Weems chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds.
American guard Trevon Hughes was the top-scorer in Pieno Zvaigzdes with 13 points, Paulius Morkeliunas had 12, while Zydrunas Kelys and Evaldas Kairys both ended up scoring eight points each.
