Zalgiris gets closer to LKL gold with a win in Kaunas 0
Zalgiris Kaunas needs just one win to defend the Lithuanian League title after downing Neptunas Klaipeda 88-72 in Game 4 of the finals, taking 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
The greens never allowed the opponents to lead and Arturas Gudaitis put-back made it 26-15 at the end of the first quarter. Later Arturas Milaknis with his third three pointer and Sarunas Jasikevicus from downtown gave the home side a 20-point margin, 49-29. However, Neptunas made a 12-3 run late in the second quarter to get to 41-52 at halftime.
Neptunas cut the deficit to single digit in the third quarter, but Zalgiris raised the cushion again. Robertas Javtokas and Paulius Jankunas were dominating under basket and 5 points from Pocius made it to 72-53 after 30 minutes. Zalgiris controlled the game in the last quarter with three pointers from Jasikevicius and Pocius – 88-72.
Pocius led the winners with 14 points, Jasikevicius bagged 13 with 5 assists, Milaknis drilled 12 points, while Jankunas and Javtokas scored 11 apiece.
Martynas Mazeika posted 17 points, and Tyrone Brazelton 12 for Neptunas Klaipeda.
