LKL: Zalgiris demolishes Siauliai on the road 0

Zalgiris Kaunas fresh off victory in the Euroleague had one more game to play on Sunday. Zalgiris smashed Siauliai 89-58 on the road in Lithuanian League encounter.

The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. The greens never allowed the hosts to lead and gained double-digit margin already in the first quarter. Arturas Milaknis made 3 three-pointers to give Kaunas team 25-10 lead.

Arturas Gudaitis started the second quarter with 5 points (30-15). Milaknis made one more three, Robertas Javtokas had a dunk, but the play of the day belonged to James Anderson. Zalgiris guard made buzzer-beater from 3/4 length of the court to finish the first half with the score 51-31.

Siauliai were slightly better in third quarter and won it 17-15. But it was not enough to challenge the Lithuanian champions. During the last 10 minutes Zalgiris again increased the lead, while Gudaitis was dominating under the rim. The game ended with 5th triple by Milaknis and with 6 points in a row by Vytenis Lipkevicius – 89-58.

Kaunas’ players made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Zalgiris forced 19 Siauliai turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Siauliai’s players.

Center Arturas Gudaitis nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winning side and guard Milaknis accounted for 17 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots).
