Zalgiris atop of the Lithuanian League with the win vs. Pasvalys 0
Zalgiris Kaunas held off Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys 81-79 and remained atop of the Lithuanian League standings with 24-1 record.
The game in Kaunas was close for the first and the last 5 minutes. After trailing 5-8 Arturas Milaknis with 8 points gave Zalgiris the 23-13 first quarter lead. Behind solid play of Arturas Gudaitis the hosts increased the margin to 51-37 at halftime.
After equal third quarter Zalgiris had 78-62 lead at the start of the fourth, but Pasvalys’ player staged a comeback to tie the score at 79-79.
James Anderson scored a game-winner 18 seconds before the end of the game, then blocked a potential game-winning three-point attempt from Laimonas Kisielius in the dying seconds, helping Zalgiris survive a scare.
Gudaitis paced the winners with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Anderson had 14 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while Milaknis chipped in with 11.
