Zalgiris gets big man Lima on loan from Madrid 42
Zalgiris Kaunas bolstered its frontcourt for the upcoming season with the arrival of center Augusto Cesar Lima on a one-year loan from Real Madrid.
Lima (2.06 meters) is no stranger to being loaned to other teams, as he played in that situation for three seasons in his career so far. Last year he played first part of the season with UCAM Murcia in Spain, and posted 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.1 assists there.
He then joined Madid in January, and played limited EuroLeague minutes with Los Blancos once he became eligible in the second part of Top 16. In a total of 8 EuroLeague games off the bench he averaged 3.4 points and 2 rebounds. He made 13 of 15 two-point attempts for 86.7% accuracy, but did not play enough games to qualify among season leaders in that category.
Although he will turn only 25 in September, Lima has been playing EuroLeague for five seasons now. He made his debut in 2009 with Unicaja Malaga, and has a total of 52 games in the competition under his belt.
For three seasons he was loaned to Clinicas Rincon and CB Granada, both in Spain. He moved to Murcia in 2013, and played there until he signed with Madrid. Lima grew up with Sao Paolo in his native Brazil, and is currently getting ready to play for his country in the Olympic Games on home soil in Rio de Janeiro.
