Zalgiris sweeps Dzukija in LKL quarterfinal 3

Zalgiris Kaunas finished the quarterfinal series against Dzukija Alytus with a huge win. The greens won 96:40 at Zalgirio arena on Friday. Zalgiris closed out the quarterfinals with a 3-0 lead.

The first match was very intense. Dzukija Alytus nearly pulled off a huge upset in Kaunas. Zalgiris managed to pull it together in the end though and won the game 80:73 (21:17, 18:21, 19:16, 22:19).

Arturas Milaknis scored 16 for Zalgiris in the first game by hitting four 3-pointers. Paulius Jankunas added 14. James Gavin was the absolute scoring leader for Dzukija Alytus. He got 24 points.

The second game was a similar story. This time the match took place in Dzukija‘s arena. Alytus team fought hard and did not back down till the end. But Zalgiris demonstrated solid composure and got the key win of the series on the road. Final score – 87:74 (19:18, 20:11, 31:24. 17:21).

Brock Motum made 5 3-pointers and scored 21 points overall for Zalgiris. Renaldas Seibutis and Lukas Lekavicius both added 16. Paulius Morkeliunas and James Gavin each scored 18 for Dzukija.

Zalgiris showed their strength in the final game in Kaunas. The greens blew out their opponents in spectacular fashion. The most impressive part – they allowed Dzukija to get only 40 points in the whole game. The match which closed the series ended 96:40 (26:12, 23:12, 21:6, 26:10).

Antanas Kavaliauskas scored 14 points for Kaunas team. Edgaras Ulanovas got 11. Anatoly Kashirov was the leading scorer for Dzukija with 14.

Zalgiris will face Neptunas Klaipeda in the 2016/2017 LKL semifinals.
