Zalgiris wins Game 3 of Lithuanian finals by 39 17
Despite losing head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius to an ejection early in the game, Zalgiris Kaunas cruised to a 97:58 home win over Lietkabelis Panevezys on Saturday in Game 3 of the Lithuanian League finals. Zalgiris now leads their their best-of-seven series 2-1.
Zalgiris jumped ahead 20:11 early and had an 18-point lead, 42:24, in the second quarter when Jasikevicius got his second technical foul and was ejected from the game. That mattered little as the hosts dominated both ends of the floor in the middle quarters of the game, when Zalgiris outscored Lietkabelis by 52:24 over those 20 minutes, putting the outcome out of reach early for the visitors.
Paulius Jankunas was the leading scorer for Zalgiris with 19 points, but got lots of help. Antanas Kavaliauskas followed with 14 points, while Brock Motum added 13, Renaldas Seibutis and Lukas Lekavicius 12 each.
Gintaras Leonavicius paced Lietkabelis with 14 points.
Game 4 is on Tuesday in Panevezys.
