Leo Westermann says farewell to Zalgiris 3
After successful season together point guard Leo Westermann is leaving Zalgiris Kaunas. The French player signed at CSKA Moscow to a one-year deal with an option to stay there for another season.
Westermann (1.97 meters, 24 years old) averaged 8.2 points and a career best 5.5 assists in 30 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. That assist tally was 10th-best in the EuroLeague last season.
He helped Zalgiris win the Lithuanian League and Cup double and challenge for a EuroLeague playoff berth.
“It was great experience I had in Kaunas. Not only basketball – I met some great people here. It was amazing feeling to play for Zalgiris. The club, the organization, the players and the fans – everybody were amazing. However, after I received the offer from CSKA I could not refuse it, because it gives me great chance to fight for the EuroLeague trophy” – Westermann explained when talking to #ZalgirisTV.
