Marius Grigonis goes #BackToSchool 0
Zalgiris TV got Marius Grigonis in the studio for another episode of #BackToSchool. He dove back into his school days and shared his memories growing up and how he would get away with missing class.
“I was a bit problematic up until the eleventh grade. I wasn’t a bad student, I just liked always wreaking havoc. My grades suffered when morning practices began, sometimes I would barely even go to school, just to tests.”
In the later years of school Marius had to balance basketball and classes and Zalgiris’ name helped him out there.
“When I started playing better, the principle of the school would help me out, since he really liked Zalgiris. He’d turn the blind eye to me missing class.”
While his school weren’t the favorite ones in his life, Marius retains a lot of good memories and one that he’ll have for the rest of his life. He met his future wife, Salomeja Karvyte there.
“She was a year ahead of me. We were in one elementary school together, but I didn’t even know who she was at that time. After that she went to the US with an exchange program and came back to my grade. That’s when it all began. I guess that’s destiny for you. We just hopped into one desk and there’s that. That’s probably the best thing I got from school.”
Marius noted that school brings some irreplaceable memories and that it’s the the beginning of real life.
“It’s a beginning of everything. It broadens your views. What else? I learned to count and to read. At that time everything seems worthless, not interesting, but it still remains in your mind.”
