Arvydas Gronskis joins Zalgiris youth coaching ranks 2
Zalgiris Kaunas announced the addition of Arvydas Gronskis to the team’s youth coaching system. The 45-year-old, who’s amassed heaps of experience in numerous youth teams will take the reigns in Zalgiris-2 as the team’s head coach.
The change in personnel comes after former Zalgiris-2 general Mantas Sernius took a step up from the NKL by taking a head coaching job in Prienai.
Arvydas Gronskis has been in charge of Perlas Vilnius, who also participated in Lithuania’s second division. He was also the coach of the Lithuanian U20 national team last summer.
“I’m glad to have joined the Zalgiris organization. I’ve worked for teams in Vilnius for over a decade and I’ve learnt so much there. I am grateful for all the experience I’ve had the opportunity to gain there and I’ve always looked up at the Zalgiris system. Once I received an offer, I could not resist it. You always want to strive for a higher level, therefore I had no doubts about joining the system of a EuroLeague club.”
As a basketball player, Gronskis played for Sakalai Vilnius in the highest level of Lithuanian basketball. He later joined the team’s coaching staff, was also the coach at the Sarunas Marciulionis basketball academy and then in Lietuvos rytas Vilnius.
