Estonian Kerr Kriisa to fill in for injured Rokas Jokubaitis 1
Zalgiris received some unpleasant news before Friday’s EuroLeague face-off against ASVEL Villeurbanne. During the team’s practice on Wednesday, Rokas Jokubaitis suffered an injury on his left thumb. While no fractures were found, he will miss at least two weeks of basketball.
Zalgiris’ other playmaker Alex Perez already missed the game against Rytas on Sunday because of a groin injury and his participation in the upcoming EuroLeague game will be a game-time decision.
To fill in for the injuries, Sarunas Jasikevicius called up Kerr Kriisa to the main team. The Estonian point guard has been leading Zalgiris-2 to victories with phenomenal play in the NKL, averaging 16.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists.
If the Estonian gets the chance to step on the court, it will be his debut official game with a Zalgiris’ men’s team jersey.
The game in Zalgirio Arena tips off on Friday and fans still have the chance to see it happen live, since just around 700 tickets are still available.
