Grigonis and Lekavicius to stay in Zalgiris 10
Zalgiris Kaunas has retained two vital pieces of its puzzle, as they extended the options of Marius Grigonis and Lukas Lekavicius for the upcoming season.
Despite drawing interest from foreign clubs, both players had an option with Zalgiris, and will stay in Kaunas for at least another year.
The 26-year-old Marius Grigonis joined Zalgiris from ALBA Berlin in 2018 and took on a leading role last season. Nevertheless, an injury derailed him in November, and his season was cut way short.
In the first 10 games of the 2019-2020 EuroLeague season, Grigonis averaged 11.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 25 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, 26-year-old Lukas Lekavicius rejoined Zalgiris last season after two years in Panathinaikos.
Despite a slow start to the season, the point guard soon picked up his play, and throughout the 27 games played, he averaged 10.5 points, 2.8 assists and 10.2 ranking points.
“I feel great in Kaunas, so staying here wasn’t a difficult decision. There’s a lot of challenges coming up next season, and that is really intriguing,” – commented Lukas.
