Zalgiris forms its coaching staff 3
This summer Zalgiris Kaunas introduced its head coach Martin Schiller, who has now finished forming his coaching staff.
Arne Woltmann will be joining Schiller in Kaunas as an assistant. The German specialist has worked alongside Zalgiris’ new head coach in the German men’s national team under coach Chris Fleming.
Woltmann was also part of Fleming’s staff in the Artland Dragons Quakenbrück and Brose Bamberg, and has also worked in several other German sides. He has also had some experience as a head coach in RheinStars Cologne and Eisbaren Bremerhaven, and was an assistant in the NBA summer league.
Moving up to the main team’s coaching staff will be Tautvydas Sabonis, who finished his professional career last year. The 28-year-old has shown great improvements in the past year working with Zalgiris second team and will be responsible for the individual work with the players and improving their skills.
After a long break, physical preparation coach Sigitas Kavaliauskas will be returning to Zalgiris. The 36-year-old specialist worked in Kaunas from 2006 to 2012, and later joined Lokomotiv Krasnodar, followed by a stint in China.
Evaldas Berzininkaitis, who’s been with the club since 2011, will continue working in the Zalgiris system, alongside physical preparation coach Nerijus Navickas, doctor Vytautas Kailius and physio Paulius Jacikas.
Zalgiris players and staff plan to start preparing for the new season on the 14th of August.
