Zalgiris cruise past Pasvalys, book tickets to KMT Final Four 5
It was easy sailing for the green-and-whites in the return leg of the King Mindaugas Cup (KMT) quarterfinals, as they took care of business with a 103-77 win over Pieno zvaigzdes and advanced to the Final Four.
The final stages of the tournament will take place in Panevezys on the 13-14th of February. Zalgiris is set to face Neptunas in the semi-finals, whilst Juventus and Lietkabelis will battle it out in the other leg.
Zalgiris did not wait around in the match-up against Pasvalys, as they got off to a double-digit lead already in the first quarter. Led by the guard duo of Lukas Lekavicius and Rokas Jokubaitis, Zalgiris closed the first half up by 17, 54-37.
While Pasvalys did dig into the margin slightly in the third, Zalgiris’ backcourt continued impressing and made sure there’s no room for a comeback. Zalgiris went on to win the final quarter 27-13, en route to a 26-point win.
Lukas Lekavicius dropped 28 points to light the way, while Rokas Jokubaitis had 15 points and 8 assists. Thomas Walkup added 12 points, while Karolis Lukosiunas contributed 11. Martinas Geben ended the night with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
