Zalgiris claims 11th consecutive LKL championship 9
Zalgiris took the third and ultimate victory in the Betsafe-LKL Finals, as they lifted the LKL trophy for the 11th consecutive time. On Monday evening, the green-and-whites defeated Rytas Vilnius 84-73 and claimed a sweeping victory in the series, 3-0.
The game started off with a neck-to-neck battle, as Zalgiris up by a single point, 16-15. Rytas managed to get ahead by six in the second quarter. Nevertheless, the green-and-whites managed to turn it around and ended the half up by three.
After the break, the hosts managed to improve their margin to double-digits and hung on to it until the final buzzer.
Thomas Walkup, who was later named Finals MVP, was the top gun for Zalgiris, as he dropped 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Marius Grigonis added 15 points and 6 assists, while Joffrey Lauvergne finished up with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Lukas Lekavicius finished the night with 12 points to his name.
