#ZalgirisBackstage and honoring Seibutis in Zalgiris’ EuroLeague home opener 0
On the 7th of October, a crowd of more than 10 thousand fans watched Zalgiris first EuroLeague home game of the new season, as the hosts took on Zenit St. Petersburg.
It was a first time in Zalgirio Arena in front of a crowd like this for Zalgiris TV’s new host Egle Jurgaityte as well, as she introduced a new episode of #ZalgirisBackstage together with the production crew.
One of the main accents of the episode was the visit of long-time Lithuanian national team player Renaldas Seibutis, who represented Zalgiris between 2015 and 2017.
The 36-year-old, who decided to call it a day to his professional basketball career, was honored during the first time out of the game with a standing ovation from Zalgirio Arena and a gift from club director Paulius Motiejunas.
“Great emotions. To be honest, it was a little bit unexpected to hear there will be somewhat of a honoring, I just found that out a couple days ago. It’s really welcome, especially with so many people in the stands who remember – what can be better?” – noted the guard.
More stars of the basketball and pop scene were in attendance, including the Lavrinovic brothers, who were adamant they’re more of calm analysts than emotional fans in the stands.
