Zalgiris wins against Siauliai to get the advantage for the third place in LKL 25
Zalgiris Kaunas got a 92-75 (28-18, 29-21, 14-19, 21-17) win over Siauliai at the Zalgirio Arena in Game 1 of the best-of-five series deciding the third place in the Lithuanian League.
Game 2 will be held next Friday (16:00 CET) in Siauliai and Game 3 on Monday (May 30) in Kaunas again.
After a commanding first half, which ended 57-39 for Zalgiris, Siauliai tried to respond off the back of a partial score of 14-19 in the third quarter, with Giedrius Staniulis paving the way. But Zalgiris soon restored the lead from 11 to 17 points (77-60) thanks to five straight points from Janis Strelnieks.
The Latvian guard scored 14 points, which tied for team-best, since Tyler Cavanaugh and Arturas Milaknis had the same production. Staniulis logged 17 for Siauliai in a losing effort.
