Zalgiris takes tough victory in season leaders’ battle in Jonava 11
Zalgiris improved to a 10-1 record with another victory in the Betsafe-LKL, as they pulled out a victory in Jonava after a tough battle against CBet, 80-75.
It was a battle against one of this season’s top teams, with Jonava now dropping to a 8-3 record after the loss.
The green-and-whites knew things won’t come easy, as the hosts responded to every basket with one of their own early on. Nevertheless, Zalgiris managed to put together somewhat of a lead before the break, leading 43-36.
CBet came out firing after halftime, and come fourth quarter, it was the visitors from Kaunas now trailing by two points.
In a tense end to the game, Zalgiris was led by Tomas Dimsa’s long-range barrage, as he dropped four three-pointers in the final period alone, helping his team to get a 80-75 win.
Dimsa ended up with 17 points, as Edgaras Ulanovas added 13 to the tally. Rolands Smits had 11, while Lukas Lekavicius joined him in double digit scoring with 10. Laurynas Birutis came close with 9 points to his name.
