Zalgiris suffers defeat at the hand of Wolves 30
Zalgiris Kaunas suffered the third loss in 2022-2023 Betsafe-LKL Championship campaign. Kazys Maksvytis’ men fell short to Wolves Alytus, 75-80, in Alytus.
The hosts had the upper hand in the opening quarter, using the back end of it to build up a six-point advantage. The margin remained in the single-digits, yet it was still the newcomers of the league that held the upper hand.
After the break, things didn’t change much. While the margin had briefly reached 12, the green-and-whites managed to halve it by the end of the third quarter. Zalgiris had gotten back within shouting range in the fourth, but came up short at the end of the day.
Lukas Lekavicius was the spark for Zalgiris, scoring 16 points, as the rest of the scoring load was shared between Edgaras Ulanovas, Ignas Brazdeikis, Laurynas Birutis, Kevarrius Hayes and Rolands Smits, who all ended up with 8 points apiece.
