Zalgiris’ EuroLeague Playoffs berth brings changes to Betsafe-LKL schedule 1

With Zalgiris Kaunas booking their ticket to the EuroLeague Playoffs, it has become clear that their quarter-final series with FC Barcelona will overlap with the Betsafe-LKL Championship schedule.

Zalgiris’ series with the Spanish giant will take place on the 26th and 28th of April and the 3rd of May. If a fourth or fifth match is needed, it will take place on the 5th and either 9th or 10th of May.

At least four Zalgiris games have been rescheduled: the game against Alytus Wolves, which was scheduled for 24th of April, has been moved to the 22nd, the game against Nevezis-Optibet has been moved from the 3rd of May to the 30th of April, the game against Jonava CBet has been rescheduled from 27th of April to 7th of May, and the game against 7bet-Lietkabelis has been rescheduled from 30th of April to 9th of May.

The latter two matches can be further postponed to 14th of May and 7th of May respectively, but only if the series requires a decisive match in Barcelona.

Due to the availability of Zalgirio Arena, the home game against Wolves on the 22nd of April and the game against Nevezis-Optibet on the 30th will be played in the reserve arenas. The venue will be announced in the coming days, along with information for season ticket holders and fans who have already purchased tickets.

As a result of the schedule changes, the Betsafe-LKL regular season will not end on the 8th of May as planned, but on 9th of May at the earliest, with the latest, if the Zalgiris-Barcelona series needs a deciding game, on the 14th of May.

As the Betsafe-LKL playoffs were scheduled to start on 11th May, the dates of the championship playoffs will be adjusted. The changes will be announced in the near future.

Adjustments to the Betsafe-LKL playoff schedule may also be necessary if Zalgiris reaches the Euroleague Final Four.

As mentioned, the dates and/or times of other Betsafe-LKL third round games not played by Zalgiris are also subject to change.
