Zalgiris books top spot in regular season with win in Jonava 1

Zalgiris secured the top spot in the Betsafe-LKL Regular Season with their 28th victory of the season coming in Jonava. The green-and-whites defeated hosts CBet Jonava 89-82 and guaranteed a finish at the top of the standings.

It was a close affair from end to end with the game tied at 26 after the opening quarter. Zalgiris stuck their necks ahead before the halftime break, going up by five.

Nevertheless, this did not turn into a tangible lead, as the hosts did well to stay right in the game. After Arnas Butkevicius dunk, Zalgiris moved to a 2-point advantage before the final period.

The fourth quarter was dominated by Laurynas Birutis, who scored 9 points to extend Zalgiris’ lead and drive the 89-82 win home.
