Zalgiris convincingly wins the third game of the LKL Finals 23
Zalgiris Kaunas has won the third game of the Betsafe-LKL Finals series. Kazis Maksvytis’ team defeated Rytas Vilnius 95-80 at Zalgirio Arena to take a 2-1 best-of-five series lead.
Tomas Dimsa, Kevarrius Hayes and Edgaras Ulanovas scored on free throws, Isaiah Taylor added 5 points, and Ignas Brazdeikis connected three times from long range, 18-14. Laurynas Birutis finished an alley-oop dunk, Lukas Lekavicius made four free throws and Inas Brazdeikis hit his fourth three-pointer, 27-22.
In the second quarter, Zalgiris did not score for almost four minutes and were already chasing their opponents, 27-29. Then Ulanovas and Hayes scored five points each, Rolands Smits hit a three-pointer, Taylor added four points, and Dimsa made a long-range shot, 47-42.
The second half started with six points from Ulanovas, and after a three-pointer from Arnas Butkevicius, the teams were separated by a double-digit difference, 56-45. Taylor made a raid under the basket, Smits made a free throw, Butkevicius added a free throw and finished coast-to-coast action with the dunk, Ulanovas hit a three-pointer, R.Smits scored four more points and Tyler Cavanaugh finished the third quarter, 74-58.
Ulanovas scored again, Hayes added four consecutive points and Cavanaugh made a three-pointer, 84-68. Taylor made two three-pointers in a row, Brazdeikis dunked with the force and Karolis Lukosiunas made a three-pointer to end the game, 95-80.
Zalgiris was led by 18 points from Ulanovas and a well-rounded performance from Taylor, who has 17 points, 9 assists and 2 steals. Brazdeikis scored 15 points, while Smits added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
