Zalgiris loses in Vilnius, LKL Finals series to be decided in Game 5 51
The Betsafe-LKL Finals series will require a fifth game. In the fourth game of the series, Kazis Maksvytis’ team lost 68-69 to Rytas Vilnius and will play the deciding game for the title on Saturday at Zalgirio Arena.
Kevarrius Hayes started the game with a layup, Arnas Butkevicius made four straight points, Isaiah Taylor and Edgaras Ulanovas scored each, and Hayes was there again to make the score 12-4. Butkevicius, Lukas Lekavicius and Taylor made shots and Tomas Dimsa added five points for 23-14 lead after first quarter.
Laurynas Birutis dunked it home, Ulanovas scored from under the basket and Brazdeikis made four points in a row, 31-18. In the rest of the quarter, Taylor scored five points and Ulanovas made four free throws in a row, 40-32.
After the break, Taylor scored five points and Dimsa drove under the basket, 47-38. Zalgiris then went six minutes without scoring, until Tyler Cavanaugh made a three-pointer at the end of the third period, 50-45.
Dimsa and.Ulanovas made one free throw each, while Hayes and Butkevicius were perfect on both attempts, and Brazdeikis scored four points in a row, 60-55. Butkevicius hit a three-pointer, but with less than a minute to play, the guests were trailing for the first time, 63-64. Brazdeikis scored five points in the remaining time, but tKaunas team finally conceded to their opponents, 68-69.
Taylor was the leading scorer with 14 points, Brazdeikis added 13 points, while Butkevicius collected 11 points and 10 rebounds.
