Zalgiris youth to play NCAA teams in the Bahamas 13
The most promising youth of Zalgiris Kaunas basketball system will have another new experience this summer.
From 2-10 August, the young Zalgiris players will travel to the Bahamas and will participate in a basketball tournament with teams from well-known NCAA universities.
The Zalgiris youth team will travel to the Atlantic Ocean island to compete against teams from four US universities.
Zalgiris’ talents will play against teams from University of South Carolina, Creighton University, Iowa State University and Texas A&M University.
The young Zalgiris players will be coached by Vytautas Pliauga, who has been working in the Zalgiris Kaunas system for a number of years and who won the NKL championship with Zalgiris-2.
“It will be a good way to prepare for the upcoming season and to test the young players in a new environment. We haven’t had this kind of trip with the youngsters before, we will spend a lot of time together, and it will be beneficial for the pre-season. Of course, it will also be interesting to compare ourselves with the USA basketball school, as a lot of young players have recently decided to continue their careers in the NCAA. We will see what we are worth and what the NCAA teams are worth,” the coach told Zalgiris.lt.
The final roster of Zalgiris youth team for the Bahamas will be decided at the end of July.
