Zalgiris announces pre-season schedule 0

Zalgiris Kaunas has finalized its preparation plan for the 2023-2024 season. Zalgiris will soon start the first part of the training camp and will play their first friendly matches, which will be broadcasted live on Zalgiris Insider, on 9 and 13 September.

Although the Zalgiris will have their first official training session on 30 August, Edgaras Ulanovas, Arnas Butkevicius, Laurynas Birutis and Kevarrius Hayes have already started working with the athletic coaches Justinas Grainys and Nerijus Navickas at Zalgirio Arena.

This week they were joined by Dovydas Giedraitis, Lukas Lekavicius, Keenan Evans and newcomers Danielius Lavrinovicius and Brady Manek. The last player to arrive in Kaunas will be Naz Mitrou-Long, who already had a medical check-up in Kaunas earlier.

Zalgiris will start the season without national team members Tomas Dimsa, Ignas Brazdeikis and one of the leaders of the Latvian men’s national basketball team, Rolands Smits. Gintaras Krapikas and Tautvydas Sabonis will work with the players in the training camp, replacing Kazis Maksvytis and Evaldas Berzininkaitis, who will be leading the national team in the World Cup.

Zalgiris will play two friendlies in Kaunas before the official start of the season: on 9 September against the London Lions and on 13 September against VEF Riga. Both games will be broadcasted live to all subscribers on Zalgiris Insider.

After these tests, Zalgiris will play its first official game of the season on 17 September in the Betsafe-LKL championship meeting with Gargzdai in Klaipeda.

On 18 September, Zalgiris will travel to Cyprus for a week to continue their preparations for the season and will take part in a friendly tournament between four EuroLeague teams. On 22 September, they will play Olympiacos Piraeus and on 23 September they will play Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.

After returning from Cyprus, the team will play the second game of the Betsafe-LKL championship against Uniclub Casino – Juventus on 28 September in Utena. On 1 October, Zalgiris will open its home season with a meeting with Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys.

On 5 October Zalgiris will open its EuroLeague season with a game against Virtus in Bologna. On 13 October, they will play their first EuroLeague home game at Zalgirio Arena and host Crvena Zvezda.
