Zalgiris breaks the spell on the last shot against Bayern 30
It came down to the final shot, but Zalgiris Kaunas ultimately outlasted a feisty Bayern Munich for a 74-73 victory in Round 9 of the 2023-24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
As Bayern did earlier this week, Zalgiris ended a four-game losing streak to break their tie in the standings and move to 4-5.
Keenan Evans banked in a floater with 9 seconds left to decide it, but 43 points from the bench made the difference for Zalgiris.
Roland Smits led the winners with 16 points, while reserves Tomas Dimsa, Lukas Lekavicius and Laurynas Birutis combined for 35. Birutis added 9 rebounds, too.
Serge Ibaka paced Bayern (3-6) with 20 points while Leandro Bolmaro added 12. The home team’s 13 three-pointers to just 8 for Bayern spelled the difference. Smits hit 4 of those and Dimsa 3.
