Zalgiris celebrates victory over Mazeikiai after scoring more than 100 points 10
Zalgiris Kaunas (16-2) didn’t have much trouble in the Betsafe-LKL championship on Sunday. Andrea Trinchieri’s team defeated M Basket-Delamode Mazeikiai (7-10) by 103-75 (20-14, 29-17, 31-24, 23-20) at Zalgirio Arena.
Laurynas Birutis scored four points, Brady Manek made a long-range shot, and Dovydas Giedraitis and Edmond Sumner opened the game, 11-4. Edgaras Ulanovas made a three-pointer, Sumner added free throws and Kevarrius Hayes closed the quarter with four points, 20-14.
Lukas Lekavicius, Arnas Butkevicius, Tomas Dimsa and Rolands Smits scored three points each at the start of the second quarter, 32-20. Lekavicius, Butkevicius and Danielius Lavrinovicius each added three more, Hayes scored four, and Sumner and Birutis finished the first half at 49-31.
Manek opened the second half with two three-pointers, while Birutis and Dimsa scored four points each, 63-39. Ulanovas and Manek scored from under the basket, while Sumner dunked it home, Lekavicius added six points and Nedas Montvila made a three-pointer, 80-55.
Butkevicius scored five points, Sumner and Lekavicius raided the basket and Montvila hit another three-pointer, 92-60. Hayes connected on a big dunk, Lekavicius made two three-pointers, Dimsa converted a free throw and Lavrinovicius sealed the victory, 103-75.
Lekavicius was the leading scorer with 20 points. Manek and Butkevicius added 11 points, while Birutis, Hayes and Sumner finished double-digit scoring with 10 points each.
