Zalgiris dismantles Mazeikiai at home 1

Zalgiris Kaunas (24-3) continues to pick up victories in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Andrea Trinchieri’s team defeated M Basket-Delamode Mazeikiai (11-17) by 95-68 (31-7, 25-23, 23-15, 16-23) at Zalgirio Arena.

Edgaras Ulanovas and Keenan Evans scored five points each, Laurynas Birutis had six points and the teams were already separated by a double-digit margin, 16-5. Edmond Sumner scored seven points, Kevarrius Hayes added four, and Demetre Rivers and Lukas Lekavicius extended the lead to 31-7.

Rolands Smits and Birutis scored inside, while Ulanovas and Tomas Dimsa hit a three-pointer each – 42-18. Birutis scored six points in a row, Evans and Dovydas Giedraitis made free throws, and Hayes and Sumner made a free throw each, 56-30.

Ulanovas connected from long range after the break, Brady Manek scored five points, and Giedraitis and Hayes scored two points each, 68-34. At the end of the third period, Smits scored eight points and Sumner was on spot from the free throw line, 79-45.

In the last quarter, Lekavicius made two three-pointers and Birutis scored inside, 87-54. Lekavicius and Hayes added buckets and Sumner made four free throws, 95-68.

Birutis was the leading scorer with 16 points. Sumner had 15, while Ulanovas finished with 11 points.
