Zalgiris ends the regular season with a big win 0

Zalgiris Kaunas (26-4) finished the Betsafe-LKL regular season. Kaunas team defeated Uniclub Casino – Juventus Utena (18-12) by 92-62 (26-15, 23-19, 24-7, 19-21) at Zalgirio Arena.

Laurynas Birutis opened the game with two baskets, Keenan Evans hit from a downtown and Tomas Dimsa made two three-pointers, 13-4. Kevarrius Hayes scored after an offensive rebound, Demetre Rivers finished two consecutive possessions with dunks, Rolands Smits had a dunk on a fast break and Lukas Lekavicius scored five points, 26-15.

Birutis scored four points in a row, Evans converted a fast break into an easy layup, Dimsa made two more three-pointers and Edgaras Ulanovas converted his free throws, 40-22. Evans was successful with a back to the basket move, Brady Manek made a long shot, Hayes added two points from under the basket and Rivers finished the first half with two points, 49-34.

After the break, Evans and Birutis scored, Dimša hit his fifth three-pointer and Smits scored five in a row to make it 61-34. Birutis dunked it home, Dovydas Giedraitis made a free throw, Manek and K.Hayes scored inside, and Rivers added five points, 73-41.

Lekavicius started the last quarter with a three-pointer and Dimsa hit a free throw, but then Zalgiris went down 0-8, and the difference was reduced slightly, 77-52. Birutis corrected his own shot, Danielius Lavrinovicius hit a three-pointer, Rivers scored two more points and Hayes scored eight in a row to close the game 92-62.

Dimsa was the leading scorer with 16 points. Hayes added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Rivers had 13 points.
