Fenerbahce-Ulker defeats Zalgiris, take a road victory in Kaunas 0
Zalgiris finished the first round of Euroleague action with a 78:84 loss to Fenerbahce-Ulker in Kaunas.
Martynas Pocius had a game-high 19 points with 7 rebounds, Dainius Salenga scored 17 as Marcus Brown netted in 16 for Zalgiris. Travis Watson added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Fenerbahce-Ulker’s Damir Mrsic scored 16 points, all in the second half, nailing four 3-pointers and collecting 11 points in the third quarter alone. Omer Onan had 13, as Semih Erden and Gordan Giricek scored 12 each.
The started with run and gun basketball, as both teams were making nearly all shots they took. Zalgiris found themselves in the lead by 6 points early in the second quarter, but unforced errors and bad passes let Fenerbahce close the game to 2 points. However, the club from Kaunas regained a 6 point lead going into halftime.
Fenerbahce-Ulker used a 14:6 run right after the break to take a small lead and maintained it for the bigger part of the time remaining, only to increase it to 78:71 in the fourth. The Turks played solid basketball and sealed their third victory in this Euroleague campaign.
